Mia Russell; 4th-year Bachelor of Medicine – JCU Townsville.

“I am extremely grateful to say that I am a Winchester Foundation Scholarship Recipient.  The support provided has been invaluable, allowing me to pursue my medical studies, undertake significant clinical placements and develop my understanding of rural medicine. During my six-week placement in Normanton, I loved becoming part of the Gulf community, making new friendships, experiencing local events and developing my clinical skills within the hospital. This experience further strengthened my goal of living and working in a small rural Queensland community in the future.

The Recipient Luncheon also highlighted the strong sense of community fostered by the Winchester Foundation. I am incredibly grateful for the warmth, encouragement and opportunities provided to young people from rural Australia. Being part of Beryl Neilsen’s inspiring legacy has been a privilege, and I sincerely appreciate the Foundation’s continued support throughout my medical journey.”
