My Journey with the Winchester Foundation

I first heard about the Winchester Foundation through the Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival. In my first year of university, I applied through Winchester Scholarships and was fortunate enough to become a recipient. During my studies, I have also had the opportunity to volunteer at various events where I gained a greater appreciation of the Foundation’s outreach and the difference its support makes to students across rural and remote communities in Queensland.

Throughout my Bachelor of Medical Imaging at CQUniversity, I completed clinical placements in Ingham, Cairns, Townsville and Mackay. These experiences were an important part of my education, allowing me to develop my skills in a variety of healthcare settings while balancing the demands of university study and extensive clinical placements.

The Foundation’s generosity helped ease some of the financial pressures associated with completing my degree, allowing me to focus more of my time and energy on my studies and placement experiences. Having now graduated and commenced work as a trainee radiographer at Mackay Base Hospital, I am incredibly grateful for the support I received along the way.

The Foundation’s investment in my education has helped me achieve this milestone and take the next step towards a career I am passionate about. I sincerely thank the Winchester Foundation and its board members for their generosity and for the difference they make in helping students pursue their goals.
